Solid playground with older kids getting the most out of it. Also includes basketball courts and grass field to kick a ball around. Good choice only if in the neighborhood.

Elkwood Park is a comfortable, well-kept neighborhood playground that skews more toward older kids. The newer equipment has enough variety and complexity to hold bigger kids' interest, and two basketball courts plus a grassy area for kicking a ball around round things out nicely.

Fair warning for toddler families: the limited toddler equipment will be exhausted quickly, and little ones will inevitably start eyeing the bigger structures with ambitious intentions. You'll be saying "that's not for you" more than once.

Only two non reservable picnic tables off to the side make this a poor party choice — save the birthday celebrations for a better-equipped park nearby.

As a casual neighborhood drop-in for older kids though? Elkwood delivers comfortably.
