Parkside Aquatic Park is a genuine gem. A stunning lagoon with a sandy beach gives the whole place a serene, coastal feel — calm waters perfect for toddlers to splash and play without the chaos of an actual beach trip. Two playgrounds sit directly in front of the water, both better suited for toddlers. While the playgrounds are nothing standout, the main draw is the beach view and ambiance. Picnic tables overlooking both the playground and lagoon creating one of the most scenic caregiver setups around.

Practically speaking, it's exceptionally well equipped — bathrooms nearby and a dedicated changing room to swap out of wet swimsuits makes the whole experience genuinely stress-free. While no changing table, there is an extra long bathroom countertop which would do in a pinch.

A beautiful, peaceful escape that feels like a mini vacation without leaving San Mateo. Absolutely worth a dedicated trip.
