Gateway Park is less about the playground and more about the atmosphere — and what an atmosphere it is. A gentle river running along the back of the park brings mallard ducks and an unexpectedly idyllic, peaceful quality that sets it apart from every other neighborhood park around.

The playground itself is small and skews toward older kids with no dedicated toddler area, so manage expectations there. But the lush grassy fields, scattered benches, and a couple of picnic tables make it a genuinely lovely spot to slow down and soak in the surroundings.

A practical heads up on parking: 3rd Ave is one-way with no parking on the park side, requiring a busy street crossing. Fremont Street is the easier alternative if coming with smaller children.

A hidden riverside oasis close to downtown worth discovering.
