Pro tip - go on sundays and you get a free bonus train for you kiddos. The Tilden main steam train is a major hit with any bay area child. You’ll see families pour in on the weekends and lines get long. The good news is that it moves relatively quickly. Each ride is roughly 12 minutes and kids under 2 ride free. Tilden is a national park so you could theoretically go on a hike after the train, but your kid is likely going to want to continue to ride the train over and over. Thankfully tickets are just $5.
