Ed Levin County Park is nicknamed Little Switzerland for its sweeping views, rolling hills, and a stunning natural setting that makes it a destination for the scenery alone. However, a summertime visit as was the case for me showed a very different, considerably browner story. Pro tip: come in spring when the hills are lush and green.
The playground is aging and skews older — babies and younger toddlers won't find much tailored for them, but the surrounding nature more than compensates. Turtles, ducks, an off-leash dog park, horse riding, golf, hang gliding, trails, and lake views create a full family day beyond the playground.
Bathrooms are impressively equipped with changing tables and toddler strap-in seats — genuinely thoughtful. $6 parking fee applies.
Come for the hiking, wildlife, and views. The playground is strictly an add on.
