Alpine Park is one of those parks with a personality so specific it's utterly charming. The train station theme is committed and adorable — and the real Caltrain rumbling past in the background adds an authenticity no playground designer could manufacture. For a toddler obsessed with trains, this is basically paradise.
That said, it's very much a toddler destination. Older kids will exhaust the entertainment quickly and start eyeing the exit. The setup also skews toward casual visits rather than gatherings — plenty of single benches to sit on, but only two picnic tables means larger parties would feel squeezed.
But for what it is? It absolutely nails it. A train-loving toddler dragging you back repeatedly is practically guaranteed.
